We spent a few days in Washington DC at Herby's sister's and brother-in-law's house on Capitol Hill. They live in a beautiful, restored house (they did almost ALL of it by themselves...meaning mostly Phil...) that's right across the street from Lincoln Park. Just beautiful and the city was all decked out for Christmas. Here are some shots I took...some of them were taken at sunset so that's why the strange light.

Williamsburg Winery Event with Lynne Rosetto Kasper
After our visit to Colonial Williamsburg we headed to the Williamsburg Winery. I worked with the Winery and WHRO's Development Dept. to set up an event where Lynne Rosetto Kasper, host of The Splendid Table, came to speak. We had a very good crowd. The Winery is a beautiful place. Herby played for the crowd and they loved him. I had my picture taken with Lynne. She was gracious and also very funny. We talked about - what else - food and wine.

Colonial Williamsburg

Colonial Williamsburg is about 45 minutes from where we live. This is where much of our Nation's history was shaped. We are fortunate to have such a place so near and since I have lived in Virginia all my life I never tire of visiting there, as it is so much a part of my heritage. It is beautiful this time of year. It is always beautiful, really. Here are some pictures of the houses, shops, people and buildings. The trees were also gorgeous. I hope you enjoy these photos.

The Alamo, Of Course

Who could visit San Antonio and NOT see The Alamo? Well, not me, that's for sure. The photo is not the best; the sun was right behind the building and I took this with my Treo.
But - at least I can always say, "I'll remember The Alamo". :)
Here's some pictures of The Riverwalk area around the hotel; it's pretty cool and I hope to go back to visit some of the shops.
You know what was a surprise for me? You would think that you could get a decent Margarita in San Antonio, would you?
Well, color me disappointed...
This is What $25 Looks Like
Yep! It's a waffle! Not the exact one I just ate but similar. I ordered a waffle (no bacon or eggs - just a waffle) and a small pot of coffee from room service. $25 plus tip! Can you believe it. I am staying at a beautiful hotel and the room is nice but $25 for a waffle!?!?!?I'm going out for lunch and tomorrow breakfast and lunch is included in a session I am attending. Not sure what I'm doing for dinner - probably NOT room service. I hope to take some pictures later. I forgot to bring my camera so I'll see how well my Treo takes pictures of the local flavor. Have a great day, y'all.

Hasta la Vista Baby!
I'm heading for Austin for a few days. Leaving ER-ER-early tomorrow morning. I hope to check out some shops while I'm there. It's a business trip but I should have a little down time. I'll be staying on E Market St, near the Alamo, which of COURSE, I'll visit - duh!. If anyone wants to recommend something, please leave a comment.
