Garden Party Frock Giveaway

Kathleen Dougherty of Grosgrain is also giving away this adorable dress.

The dress is made from green broadcloth material with a crochet trim that runs throughout the dress. She says it reminds her of something that might be worn to a garden party. So she named it Garden Party Frock. Her sewing skills are amazing! Head on over and check it out! Garden Party FrockGiveway.

Vintage Halloween Tags

So here's what I've been working on. I made these tags using a reproduced picture of an old French document from the 1800s.
I cut each tag by hand, stamped the tag, added a picture from (copy of ) a vintage Halloween post card, then added glitter and two colors of ribbon for hanging.

Sewing Skills Envy

How beautiful is this quilt!?
Some lucky little girl has the good fortune to be the daughter of Kellie from Don't Look Now. Her sewing skills are amazing. I wish I had a 10th of her talent. Of course having the right machine helps but you need to be naturally creative to come up with a design like this.
She also made this pillow with the help of her daughter's class. Truly amazing work. She appliqued around each petal and leaf!

Sweet and Shabby Vintage Cupcake Tin of Art Goodies

Look at all these lovely art goodies! Can you believe they're giving this away over at Sweet Six Studio.? It's a promotion for an art workshop they are conducting. There's more information there for how to win this plus how to join the workshop. I'm seriously considering it myself. What a great idea.

At the Zoo

We took Madison to the zoo - her first trip.
Here are three of my favorite people: my daughter, Madison and my son in law. We had a great day and Madison probably didn't know what was going on but she always enjoys being out around people as she is very sociable (just like her mom).

Strawberries and Ric Rac

I don't think I ever showed you this dress with matching bloomers that I sewed for Madison a long time ago. It was one of the very first (maybe even the first) things I made when I found out my daughter was pregnant. I added the ric rac and also the applique on the front. I love the colors and the sweet strawberries.

Wish Come True Toys

Also from FredFlare are these "Wish Come True" mini figures. They are simple yet so appealing. They are weighted at the bottom and make a chiming noise when moved. I want all six!

Wish Come True Mini Figures
from FredFlare: $9 each

Almost Wish it Would Rain...

...so I could use one of these too-too cute umbrellas. Each one of these little "dolls" wears a different rain coat and boots outfit.

Rain Parade Mini Umbrella from FredFlare: $32

Bramble Mushroom Nightlight

How much do you love this little night light?
It's from White Rabbit England. The original Bramble nightlight is available with either a red or blue top. You know I love red polka dots. There's Bramble the Elf with his friends, lizard hedgehog and mole. Look out for the little white rabbit hiding somewhere amongst the foliage! (You can just barely see it in this photo.)

Bramble Toadstool Nightlight: $45 Euros

Drawing in Ink and Colored Pencil

I drew this last year. It's from one of my children's books but I can't remember which one. I love the vintage pictures in the book and this little boy out for a day of adventure. Too bad it had to rain. I love his little puppet and toy horse on wheels.
(Update: It was from "Mother Goose Tales for Children")

Scrap Fabric Belt

This is a great idea for using up scrap fabric from Area Thrifty One. (Don't you love that name?)

The complete tutorial is on her blog. It's simple and can be sewn to any size. Just fabric and D-rings. Take time while you're there to peruse her blog. Really cute stuff and very inspiring.
I also must say that it's killing me that I can't work on projects right now because I'm painting my new art/craft area upstairs. I really shouldn't complain. I am very fortunate to have the space to devote to creating. I will be able to access my materials better and don't have to worry about leaving a mess. It will also clear up a lot of mess and clutter in the den.

Art Collage: Paper Scissors Fabric and Talent

It's a-mazing what one can do with some paper, fabric, scissors and a lot of talent and imagination.
Blaze Danielle, in collaboration with a fellow artist needed a class project. The class was assigned to create something narrative, and they designed this charming way to portray the four seasons within books.
Play the video! It is awesome. You should also visit Blaze's blog.

I "Heart" My Readers

It's another Friday and I'm back! We had a wonderful time while we were away. Right now I'm having huge issues with my camera so I can't take pictures of my work. So, for the next few postings you'll have to be satisfied with some beautiful inspiration from others.
As the title of this post says, I love my readers, especially those who leave comments. So, for this Friday gallery, here are some hearts from me.
This is a lovely fabric heart from Karanan.
Lovely artwork by Kelly Rae.
.Collage hearts from the beautiful work of Danish blogger Dortesjs
And last, but certainly not least, this gorgeous sea glass pendant from SeaFindDesigns' Etsy shop.
